this is the toughest job
you’ll ever love

Why do we say that? Because we don’t just have jobs, we have ministries — and ministry can be as difficult as it is rewarding. Working at Journey Church means running into the burning building rather than fleeing to safety. It means realizing there is a battle going on, and souls are on the line. The volunteers who make up this place are the real heroes and our staff members are their guides. We take what we do seriously, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously and we’re able to have fun while on a great mission.

WE HIRE PEOPLE WHO ARE…

HUMBLE

Are you willing to die to yourself for the mission, because we die every day around here. There’s no place for ego, attention, pride, or self promotion and none of us are above being the servant of all. We are confident and secure, and we’re quick to admit our mistakes and even quicker to make it right and learn from them. We take the mission personal (not what someone says to us) and we realize that when one area in our church wins we all win.

HUNGRY

Are you good with the status quo and just getting by because we aren’t. We bring it every day, giving our all in all we do. We’re self motivated with drive and intentionality, and we lead with a “Yes.” We set the tone in our attitude, example, and effort and we aren’t afraid to add more weight or put in an extra rep.

SMART

Are you willing to get the message to Garcia? If we don’t know how, we will figure it out, ask questions, solve it. We know that leaders are learners and the moment we stop learning we stop leading. We’ve come to discover that “impossible” is a dirty word and if we aren’t where we want to be it’s because we haven’t yet grown enough, learned enough, or worked enough to get there, yet we won’t make excuses or throw up our hands in despair.

I PROMISE…

As staff members we agree to abide by a set of standards. We promise these things to one another. Before applying, consider if these are promises you'd be willing to make to your teammates.

... to use the Bible as my ultimate standard of truth.
... to practice the spiritual disciplines.
... to receive truth spoken to me by others.
... to pursue personal holiness and purity in my life.
... to go directly to the person.
... to trust those in authority over me.
... to follow-through on my commitments.
... to reach new people.
